Endless Scroll…

Endless Scroll... is a display of works created as a continuation of a series Nancy painted revolving around the themes of body positivity and societal definitions of feminine beauty. The show title is a nod to social media platforms like Tumblr and Instagram where users have the ability to consume copious amounts of media and imagery featuring societal constructions of beauty at rates like never before.
For this body of work, the artist wanted to begin pulling more from her Chinese heritage and did so by incorporating rice paper, the same material many of her ancestors used to create traditional calligraphy scrolls. In addition to tying in her Asian roots, this paper choice was also utilized to express the “fragility” of societal definitions of “feminine beauty.”
Nancy believes that the feminine form IS “beauty.” And the vast variety of shape, size and proportion of this form should be celebrated. Her hope is that viewers will dwell before and connect with these works in a way where each piece reminds them of someone familiar, and allows them to see beauty with a more expansive lens.
